From now on this thread is about the small, light, powerful and made right here, Crown XLS new line of power amps (I know, the XLS was made before, I'm talking since June 2010.) Anyone else use one? I think they will be very popular for live sound.

The problem is, I posted this 6 months too early.

In 6 months, TB'ers will be more informed. Besides using the actual word "rack" is more than some can handle.

So, I actually realized my rack is 35lbs. As long as it's not heavier than my cab.
I can run a good sized PA out of it.

We are bassists. The most intellegent, overlooked, and mature people in bands. Yet we certainly have the most "twisted" minds when it comes to musical/gear terms such as "rack". I personally want my rack to get implants (Preferably a 8U).

they double as protection for your rackable gear so you don't have to buy a separate road case. however, i'm with you. i don't care for racks, either. i quit using rackable heads, though, so if i did have a rackable head, i'd probably still use one.

Well, this goes way off topic but:
- if you want to use a certain preamp, or a certain poweramp (most use PA amps), or if you switch pre or poweramps often
- if you want to use rack-mountable effects, or you want to fit a tuner or power conditioner in there
...racks are the way to go.
