Lindy Fralin P-Bass Pickup Installation

I recently purchased a long-scale SX P-Bass and removed the stock pickups for replacement with Lindy Fralin P-Bass pickups. When I drop the Fralins into the pickup cavity they sit too deep. The stock pickups each had a magnetic bar attached across the bottom of the pickup pole pieces, which elevate the pickups about a 1/4" in height. I was able to detach these magnetic bars from the stock pickups but didn't want to use them on the Fralin's as I wasn't sure what effect the addition of a magnet to each pickup would have.

To raise the Fralin's out the cavity, could I simply duplicate the structure of the magnetic bar with wood or another material? Would there be any tonal drawbacks from placing wood shims under each pickup in order to physically elevate them?

I know many people have replaced pickups with these SX guitars, so hopefully somebody else has recently experienced this.

Thanks everybody.
