Line 6 dl4

It's a big pedal, but lots of fun, creative options. How much delay/sample/looping needs do you have? I bought one again years after owning my first. Lots of good stuff. One of the best loopers without saving capabilities if you ask me.

But the pedal is also notorious for its switch breaking like 100% of the time
What exactly do you mean?

Actually it's the best delay pedal that I've ran onto, it has exactly what I need.

Personally I think the looper in it is more interesting than the delays as far as that pedal is concerned. Most delay pedals with a looper have minimal looper function. As far as the delays (looper aside) I think you'd be better off getting an m series unit. They are true bypass, the m5 cost considerably less money, better switches, includes most of the delays and also has a lot of nice reverbs and some fun whacky filters. But if you want some of the crazy looper functions it can do it is actually a little smaller than the m9 and has different looper functions. Personally for me a ditto looper has all the functionality Id really put to use.

True it is known for some shotty switches (though I hope line6 is cool about repairs). But it's a good price. Guitarist buddy had one and I enjoyed it. Great looper. Just great. But without the AC plug, well, just use one. Takes like 50 C batteries or something. Nice unit; too big for me though. That's all.

Check out this video to see how Juan uses it. notice he even calls it a sampler, and has a separate delay on the board here.

I've seen that video before, but I had never noticed he had one line 6 dl4 - thanks for mentioning it by the way. I have a new question, since it's a guitar pedal, will I need a compressor in case I buy the Line 6 dl4? (I'm new with pedals so sorry if I ask basic questions.)

You definetly don't need a compressor for anything. But they are nice to have for several reasons. I played for many years without a compressor but I Actually use the discontinued Cs-2 the same model compressor Juan uses in that video and a part of the reason for that is I use more effects these days some effects work better imo if they are getting a compressed signal. I think when it comes to delays "digital delays" in particular because the echos are so punchy and the volume doesn't fade out the same way an analog delay does, I prefer having a compressor in front of a digital delay in particular. But I will say my boss dd3 digital delay is more dynamic than the m5. which may sound like a bad thing, but I can happily use the m5 delays without a compressor, with the dd3 on the other hand I think the compressor makes more of a difference.

I understand, thanks for the help!

The dl4 frustrates me. I can't get rid of it, much as I would like to. It's huge, it'll probably break, and it need a special power supply.

I agree with @Nephilymbass, it's the looper function that really makes this pedal. It is SO much more than a looper for layering parts. There is no other looper in its price range that can do reverse, half/double time, and stutter starts without having to take your hands off your instrument and manipulate the knobs.

It works as a delay, but I like the deluxe memory boy better for almost everything, and the Behringer vintage for a simple delay. I guess it doesn't hurt to have it, it IS stereo.

I just wish I could get rid of this hunk of junk but until I can afford an EHX 22500 or one of those old boomerangs it's here to stay.

@HappyBassPol yes the delay time does this in reverse mode. I guess I'm confused by the question? what reverse delay would not allow you to do that?

I'm sorry for my bad english... :D
It's about this effect...
Listen the reverse delay in this song... I'm not sure... but it seems like the repetitions are in halfspeed... Les Claypool have one DL4 and maybe he used this pedal to do it...
