Searched but...
Backline for Friday included a Line 6 G10
Small space but not being tied down with cables was awesome.
Very clean tone (although not my amp or cabinet so not 100% sure it was perfect).
Decent reviews here assuming not a high output active bass.

Do they sound the same?
Here are the spec differences:

G10 is 50' line of sight, a really jive looking Micro USB jack that looks like trouble, and 14 auto channels. Also pretty cheap on the used market.

The G10S has a metal base, 130' line of sight, and a 9-Volt or USB supply, 11 manual channels, and "cable tone". Not cheap on the used market.

They both share the same transmitter so the base station / receivers are the difference.

First off, what is cable tone?
If this is supposed to mimic the extra impedance of a longer cable, wouldn't this just be a treble roll off. If I want this, what is the difference from backing off the treble of an active bass or at the amp?

50' is fine for my local gig activity.
If it was something important, I'll go back to a cable or rent some pro gear.
I don't think I need the 11 manual channels option. If I'm going to use this, it has to be simple and love the plug in jack transmitter instead of holder, cable, strap attachment, etc. If either offers a dB or 2 of compression, I doubt I'd hear it.

That gets me down to the USB supply.
I'm thinking mount the cable with hardware so that jack will never pull against the outlet.

Am I missing anything and do you owners still like the performance?
TIA

I had an original G10, and sold it due to the 5v USB power source for the receiver. Bought a G10S system to replace it. The receiver takes conventional 9v power and is much more pedalboard-friendly. I have had no trouble with it, either at home or at gigs, but I notice that all the big retailers have dropped it from their listings. It's only available from a few small shops on Reverb. I wonder if Line 6 is about to introduce a new version. Maybe the transmitter has been found to cause cancer or attract hostile aliens from outer space. No one seems to have anything good to say about the similar Boss system. I sure wish someone would perfect an affordable wireless system that fits on a pedalboard.
