It helps keep me from rushing lol

I havent gotten to try the new stuff out but the only thing that really caught my interest besides the metering was the billy sheean comp
My thought is they could have used the led rings on the footswitches as clipping indicators like they used for the tuner mode on the stomp using green, yellow, and red seems it would be easy enough imho. But even so I'm happy to add the split dynamics drives, phaser, and new comp to the list. The ir naming and new footswitch commands are cool too. I was just personally really looking forward to adding the 3 types of metering as its one of my favorite features on my other gear that have it. I got abit bummed not seeing it only on the stomp and hx fx. I think even adding it in the hx edit would be nice for getting a basic balance on patches especially for getting my in ear level solid. I still adjust by ear as needed but it does help speed the process abit having some level of visual feedback.

The more I “researched” my personal and limited complaints about the HXFX and the stomp, the more I found that L6 more than likely have already thought about most the issues most have with their products. At the end of the day, it’s either about hardware/software space, platform limitations and or just the top “wants or needs” by users getting bumped to the top of the “to do list” for L6. I love these pedals. There’s some things I wish they still had but I’m just happy with what’s provided overall. Especially when you get free firmware updates with new models added every time! I’ll take it...
I absolutely love my hx fx too it has a few minor things id like to see added to really take it over the top.Right? Very much this. My board took quite a tech jump ahead when I started diving into MIDI and controller options with the HXFX. It's been a killer pedalboard addition.
5sg.
Have any of you messed around with using the HXFX like a faux modular synth? Set up a 3 Note Generator to play a tone, put Bleat Chop and Asheville pattern after it to give it some movement, AM Ring Mod into Pitch delay. I would love if there was some sort of pitch sequencer in the HX. Definitely a reason for me to buy a C4.
As I said a few pages back, I’m really kicking myself for not getting one of these sooner. Especially once I realized just how easy it is to use and dial in.
I’m seriously considering grabbing a Stomp now too, and the two could basically be my entire pedalboard....
I’ve watched a couple videos now about running the two units together, and it looks like a pretty kickass setup. I could basically eliminate my Subway DI, Cali76, and possibly MBD1, and just have my Shure GLXD16, SA C4, the Stomp and the HX on my board. All powered by the Eventide PowerMax underneath it (the doubler cable works awesome for powering my HX, I’d just grab another for the Stomp).I got an HXFX when it first dropped. Maybe 2 years later I got the stomp. Love it. Totally rebuilt a new board around it. Smaller more compact board. But man it’s crazy the amount of options and power you can build on a smaller board these days with things like the stomp and an H9. I still use my HXFX at home. The stomp has taken over as a primary tool I use by Line 6. I miss some of the HXFX’s routing flexibility but for how I use it atm, it works great.

And I know....at that point, why not just run either the Helix Floor or LT? Well, mainly because I really like the idea of a modular setup that I can change up based on my current needs/wants.
After a week with the HXFX I already want a Stomp someday. My B3 is cutting it for now..... but I can just imagine the leap in quality the Stomp has.
I’m pretty sure I’m going to get one. Some of the comps on the HX are definitely usable for what I want/use compression for, so I can easily dial in a couple compressors on the Stomp to use in place of my Cali76. I probably wouldn’t use the amp modeling right now, but it would be great to have on hand for when I would want it. So I’d be under-utilizing the Stomp at first, using it in the effects loop of the HX for different compression and EQ type stuff, but, I still think it’d be a cool setup. After a week with the HXFX I already want a Stomp someday. My B3 is cutting it for now as my recording interface and amp sim and my minimal set up if I don't want to bring my full board, but I can just imagine the leap in quality the Stomp has.
Do / did any of you Helix owners have a SA Aftershock?
I think of the AS as being a drive multifx and given there is such a wide range of drive effects on the Helix, I suspect my AS is not going to get too much use going forward and it's probably time to move it on.
Just wondering whether any of you held onto your Aftershocks after getting a Helix and are managing to put it to good use?
I don't have the aftershock, but I do have its predecessor the OFD. I like the OFD just a bit more for the Muff and Gated fuzzes. I prefer the HX for Rat and Lower gain tones. It honestly has me wanting to try an Aftershock to see the differences.
That's helpful thanks. I've not really done a deep dive with my AS yet, and was kinda wondering whether it would be worth the effort given that I'm currently spending a fair bit of time with my HX following installation of 2.90 and 2.91.
But you have persuaded me to hold on to the AS for a while longer. I previously also had the OFD and tbh found it "OK" rather than "wow" - the AS is an upgrade of the OFD, so sounds like you would probably really like the AS.
One of the plus features for me of the AS is its ability to retain low end really well, whereas with Helix I can definitely see that I'm going to need to parallel route to blend in clean, which the AS lets you do via an easy to access dial.
Be a little amusing if my earlier post results in a fellow TBer getting an AS instead of me getting rid of mine!![]()
