Line 6 HX Effects

With all this talk of octavers - does anyone have any thoughts on how well the HX stands up against something like a POG?

I love my micro POG and have always struggled to find something that tracks and sounds better than it, so I'm curious to see if the HX will be able to persuade me to sell the POG too...otherwise I have plans to chuck it in one of the FX loops

I can’t tell you exactly how it would stand up to the POG. I should try now that it’s come up in this thread a few times...

I will say this. A buddy asked me how the HX would do if say you wanted to create a patch to turn your bass into a downtuned beast. So I used the simple pitch block to drop it 2 octaves then dropped my E to D. I put it up against my bass whammy doing the same thing. The HX did quite a bit better job. It tracked better and responded quicker. It was kinda cool. Added an HX muff to it and it was doom city.

Nice. Perhaps rather than using the octavers (which would sound more like a Sub'n'Up, from what I heard in those samples), the pitch shifter will be the way I'd go for more POG-like sounds. It's ultimately the tracking where I find most "octaves" fall down, and while I heard the odd glitch in the octave demos the HX sounds quite clear so far. Interesting, interesting...

Oh yeah, if you’re wondering if the HX can do what the POG can do, then yes, it can. Just depends on what you’d want to do exactly ya know. But yeah it does have those poly type octaves.

And this was using a fully polyphonic algorithm? So even if you strummed all open strings it wouldn’t glitch? It might not sound good down that low, but if it doesn’t glitch that’s pretty cool.

Got line 6 updater installed, connect hx,turn on hx, open updater and doesn’t show hx says select device to update but blank screen so don’t think it’s recogniIng it. I rebooted computer and got same results. Any ideas?

I wish I could help man. My update went pretty smooth. And I barely remember how i did it. Have you checked the line 6 website and follow the directions maybe? No sarcasm intended.

Anyone know anything about loading IR’s to the HX?? I managed to get all these wav files into the HX Edit but then I don’t know how to move them to the HX...hmmm. Manual time.

Did you download the HX edit as well as the updater. I think I remember something about it having some drivers that needed to be installed for everything to work.
UPDATE IN PROGRESS!!! My bad when I tried installing HX Edit first time I didn’t uncheck updater as I had already installed and that’s how I got the error.. unchecked the box hx edit installed np open updater and follow instructions now it’s 2.50. Thank you so much @254 stringer and @gregmon79 .. it’s a little late to dive in so I’m on it tomorrow.. Again Thank You!!!
