line out - line in

Just a question, as I dont want to start doing things the wrong way.

I have a line out on my amp, which ive hooked up to my line in on my sound card.

Its really quiet though, what would you suggest to make it a bit better.

The line out on my amp - comes after the pre amp but before the eq and power amp.

Maybe putting it through my pedals or that?

Most amps with a line out (im assuming its an XLR) will have an output level, also, your mixer will probably have an input level and a level control for the individual channel, you also have the main mix volume control

Maybe one of them needs turned up ?

well my amp has gain and volume, is that what you mean - only problem there is ill need to d/c my cab and just listen to what i play through the speakers on the pc

edit. they are for the power amp though, so make no difference to what comes out the line out - yes its XLR

The gain control will control it a tad

And what i meant is some amps have an individual volume control from the output of the XLR

Have you tried turning up the level and volume controls on your mixer?

Also, have you turned up the line in volume on your PC sound card?

mohawk may have found your answer with the above post, but if not.

Most line-out signals are to weak to drive a recorder to full levels.

Any time I record using a line/DI-out, I always run it through
some kind of Mic/line-preamp before hitting the recorder.

Your pedal Idea might work, if its made to accept line level signals and has some kind of signal boosting feature.
