Hi guyz! i wanna buy an Amp, 4 practicing and small gigs,
there is 2 options in same price :

LowDown LD175(used)
Invalid Link Removed

Maxwatt B100
http://www.hiwatt.co.uk/prod_details.aspx?pid=36&cid=22

i cant test completely and select well. cuz of shop in our country

im playin Rock , the sound of Roger waters and Colin greenwood makes me high .
line 6 has special Features like synth mode,4channel memories presets, XLR direct out, and this is 175W, line6 reminds me Metal core bands, so its not intresting 4 me.
but the hiwatt is more similar and absolutely rock brand
who can help me 2 choose better one?
which one can help me to produce sound of rock?
i need ur idea guyz! my time is runnig out!

The Line6 is certainly more versatile, but I don't like the voicing of the cab at all. Way too boomy. All of the amp models sound more or less the same, because the cab voicing dominates over all of them.

Don't know the Hiwatt, can't tell you anything about it.

Both are heavy.

In the end it comes down to sound.

digital bass amps never seem to work well IMO. always too comporressed feeling...

I would just say that the Line 6 and it's modeling sound piss poor as far as amps go but that's me IMO/IME. ;)

I'd go with the Hiwatt. Graphic EQ's are great tone shaping tools on any amplifier. You can get more perceived loudness (midrange!), change the combo's voicing, or make it sound quite a bit like other amps with proper EQ work. That's got my vote.

Not really. I still feel strongly that the Line 6 products sound lifeless and muddy in comparison to other products, even budget ones. I'd imagine you'll be better able to hear nuances (and mistakes) with the Hiwatt.

Don't know how the Hiwatt sounds like (but you got me curious), but the Line 6 with a 1x15 sounds too boomy and unfocussed to me. You probably won't use all the settings and some might not work we your bass (I tried a G&L L-2500 through a Line 6 amp, and the clean channel couldnt' stand the high output of that bass... since a G&L L-2500 is one of my main basses, I had to pass on the Line 6).

tnx dude 4 replay! im agreed with u about Line6 sound,
but my budget is limited yet! so i have to select the one that support my all dimensions and usage
p.s: the Hiwatt one here is maded by china under license of UK. is it important dude?!

Is there any chance that you can try out one or more amplifiers at a store?

I'd bet that the Line 6 is made in China too. Being made in China isn't necessarily a bad thing.

tnx 4 ur mention!
i found lin6 boomy too! but i think the LD175 facilities is more usefull 4 me at this time , what u think?! quality of sound or facilities??

I've used the Basspod XT Pro. The modelling is nice on some of the amps and effects, but there always been some feature lacking on each model comparing to the real units. That is why I switched to Sansamp which also sounded better. I also prefer Amplitube iOS on iPad other the Line6 Basspod.
Not sure about the Hiwatt but if you are from England then you can consider Ashdown as well as they are quite cheap and sound great.
