Linking Zoom B2/B2.1u to Zoom GFX-707

Hi Fellow TB'ers.

Does anyone have know-how or experience with linking the 2 different Zooms together to take advantage of the GFX-707's
built-in looping feature, foot switches, and expression pedal as auxiliaries for the Zoom B2 or B2.1u unit for looping, off-on switching of features, tap tempoing, etc? I'm trying to use the units together to avoid buying more external foot switches and the Boss RC-2 for looping. The GFX-707 will give me shorter loops than the Boss RC-2, but it's o.k. until I can raise more cash.

P.S. I've contacted Zoom Japan and U.S.A., but haven't heard back yet.

I don't think that there is a way to link these devices in the way you mean since there is no common connection to carry control info like midi or usb and the operating systems are not configured to cross talk.
If you hear from ZoomJapan they will refer you to Samson and they are completely non-responsive, too busy selling instead of supporting their products.

Doubt you can do that, you might be able to put the B2 into the effects loop of the GFX (I've used mine in conjunction with a GFX-8) but you won't be able to make patch changes or tap tempo with the GFX as your controller. A B9 might be better suited for you.

Hi bassbrad and ihateusernames. My query to Zoom Japan and U.S.A. was redirected to [email protected] and I got quick responses from 2 different tech persons.
Queries:
1. "Can I link my Zoom B2.1u with my Zoom GFX-707 to enable use of my GFX-707's foot switches and/or expression pedal as an on-off switch, tempo tap switch, etc., instead of buying an optional foot switch for the B2.1u?"

2. "Can I use the GFX-707's looping function with my B2.1u to avoid buying a looping pedal such as the Boss RC-2?"

Samsontech reply:
"The answer to question one is no.
The answer to question two is yes. All you have to do is place the 707 before or after the B2.1u in your signal flow. I suggest after."

So, I'm part-way there. How would the full signal chain look if I obtained a separate foot switch and wanted to use it with the combined Zooms?
Sorry for my denseness in this matter - I never used my GFX-707 for anything other than modifying my bass's tone (I couldn't get a BFX-708 in my area at the time!).

Sounds like it's time to whip out that manual and spend some time learning to loop and other functions. BTW B2 & B2.1u also have a looping function but it is often easier to use a seperate pedal for looping. The GFX will be a lot easier to use than the boss in that regard as it has a pedal for real time control of various parameters.

Thanks bassbrad...you're right about the manual...digging thru it now. I also ordered the Boss RC-2 and its FS-5U foot switch due to the short Zoom looping ability - 5-6 seconds. When the Boss stuff arrive, I'll dig deeper into this stuff and post what I will have learned for others. There are also a few Youtube videos outlining the Boss RC-2 and the Zoom B2/B2.1u together, with use of the optional footswitch.
