My dream bass is for sale right now in Austin, Texas at the Bass Emporium.

They have had it for some time now it seems.

I check on it almost daily.

I can't afford it.

It is the Fender Custom Shop Burgundy Mist Jazz Bass Reissue.

God I love that thing...

Pentabuzz with that delicious blue / green fade stain, lined fingerboard, black hardware, 3/4" (19mm) string spacing.

This was the first fretless I ever played. Nothing compares in the fretless world. I have been on a constant search to locate one ever since.

I understand. I apologize for saying lucky. That is the result of a lot of hard work and budgeting, not to mention years of experience. I won't slight you by saying it was dumb luck. Regardless, thats a fine brace of Alembics and I am appropriately green with envy.

i've always been a jazz bass fan. i really like what Sadowsky and Lakland have been doing, but I would probably go with something created by Nino.

Something like this but with a rosewood board and single coils:

The MTD Saratoga USA would also be cool.

I have pretty simple taste.

35" scale, fretless unlined, 5 string P-J bass. Many tone options. Nifty, but comfortable body shape (Maybe like a Gecko bass or Carvin Icon). Neck through design w/ good pickups, walnut body and zebra wood top. Neck would be wal/zw/wal/zw/wal, tone knobs would be walnut. Black hardware. Ebony fretboard with a cool, kind of abstract inlay similar to my dad's Nechville banjo.

Or a Gecko bass, those things are spiff machines.
