I feel the same way, because in my experience the concept is (in most cases) less complicated...but I’m a front firing devotee.
Hi Ric, do you notice some changes in the sound when you pump up the high knob on the GR Cube Acoustic? I don't feel any substantial difference...And, another question, what have you put under the ampli? In principle the Acoustic Image Upshot design was great, in practice it t was great in some rooms especially small cramped clubs. Harvey S uses one in Mezzrow’s and it sounds pretty great. Overall I think the Double Shot was better, but I’m a front firing devotee. View attachment 7267259View attachment 7267260
+1 for the the GR 110 active cabinet. I´m still enjoying my GR AT 112 active cube. One thing I´ve noticed though is that my Headway EDB2 HE preamp is getting a little noisy when the volume level needs to be higher. It produces that hissing noise. @BassinCT, have you noticed that?I’m using the Headway with a GR powered 110:

Double Bass - Powered cab recommendation
@16fuss, is the Grace Felix pre silent with your GR act cab or does it get noisy like my Headway Edp2 with higher volume levels?I use a GR Bass 120 active cab. Maybe an option, if you like the acoustic cab anyway. I use it with a Grace Felix or, more often simply with an Fdeck. The in input is very sensitive, you can even plug in your active bassguitar directly.
It sounds great.
I haven’t noticed hiss…could be that it is present but do not hear it. I’m using it tonight at an open rehearsal and will give it a listen.+1 for the the GR 110 active cabinet. Unless my Headway EDB-2 H.E. is substantially different than yours, the preamp can make some noise into a powered cabinet ( it least it did with my MAS 1/8's (both versions v1&v2) where the Grace is dead quiet into my GR Bass AT Cube Acoustic with the Pure Sound bypass engaged. I haven't had an opportunity to use the Headway EDB-2 I own with the AT Cube Acoustic because it's own preamp is quite good. I do use a RedEye Twin into the AT Cube because I'm using an Ehrlund EAP pickup that needs a preamp infront of the amp. I wouldn't think anyone using a Realist Life Line or Fishman Full Circle would require that additional boost, but with the EAP it's essential except with a Grace Felix. Sorry if thats' kind fo a muddled answer. I passed on on one of the GR Bass AT Active Cabinets, because in the realm of things the price difference between their powered cabinets, and the AT Cube Acoustic doesn't justify (at least for me) just buying a powered cabinet and the weight difference is pretty minimal. Just my take of course. If you already own the Grace Felix than one of the GR Bass active cabinets doesn't cost as mucn.+1 for the the GR 110 active cabinet.
