Little Bear BS-1 too compressed sound problem

Good evening, fellow t-bers. I received today the Little Bear BS-1 fuzz pedal. I plugged it in a Crate BT15 amp using a Schecter Hellraiser Extreme 5 bass (no other pedals in the chain) and I noticed that when I play a note, it sounds too compressed at first, giving the full spectrum of sound just a little less than a second after; it begins being compressed, then (if no other notes are added) it sounds ok. Could you suggest what the problem might be? I have never had a similar problem with any other pedal, and I've tried other fuzz pedals as well. If you would like any other info on my gear or anything, please ask me to give you more details. Thanks in advance.

Try a passive bass. Many people report that Wooly Mammoths and their clones don't like active basses.

I also forgot to mention that this problem appears mainly on lower strings (i.e. a little bit on A, mostly on E and again a little bit on B)

Actually, as I have noticed, this "overcompression" problem isn't active bass specific. So I guess it might be caused by my cheap amp. But can anyone give any more insight into this?

Bring it to a music store or a friend's space and try it through a better amp.
