How is he getting that golden synth distortion tone at 2:21? Before he demonstrates how to warble it with the expression pedal?

I think he says it's a Moogerfooger.

Which moogerfooger? I thought those were envelope filters, how would you get that gritty sound out of one?

Chris uses 2 M units (either 2 M13's or 2 M9's or one of each - depending on what mood he's in!) with 2 Pigtronix dual expression pedals and a Moog Bass Murf.

Sorry, I meant to quote your second post...he literally says "one of the main ones I've got is the Moogerfooger" at around the 2:10 mark. I'm not sure how though, I'm still new to this stuff too.

So are you sayin that the sick distortion tone is coming from a Line6 multi-effects pedal?? Honestly I find that hard to believe...

Both times I've seen him live he has used only the 2 M-series unit and not the fooger. I too own an M13 for my 'small' set up and with the right amp and cab it nails that tone perfectly.

As mentioned he is a member on this forum 'fattybassman' so ask him. In fact, I'll fire him a text message now an ask him to pop along and confirm for you!

yea the distortion is from the m9 on that video with the drive on half on the moogerfooger bass murf aswell
it is the attack synth with tube drive i think by the sounds of it
