I'd keep the J with the Dimarzio model J's in it (I hate hum), the MIM P (different enough, it has the volume pot wired the correct way (I hate VVT controls) and it's still hum cancelling in every condition), and after that....as everything you have is some variant of a P, J, or PJ, I'd sell the lot of 'em and buy something that's not so blatantly Fenderish. Leo designed the Stingray - maybe one of those, or a Ric (if you don't hate hum). One of my principles is to keep as much diversity in my little herd in as few basses as I can get away with - you have a LOT of overlap on your basses, so paring down should be relatively easy.

One other strategy to ponder:

Build a time machine. Set it for....say, any time in the 1950's or 1960's. Problem solved - nobody owned more than 3 basses back then.

I'd go for 3, 2 or 4, and 5.

Flats on the P, rounds on the J and 5.
I think it'll get you the best variety in sounds. It's similar to the collection I have right now and I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything (besides maybe an upright).

But the real question is what are your 3 favorites? Which ones would you regret selling?

I really love the #3 (MIA P) and #3 (Modded MIM J Special) But I’m really torned about the third one

For me, I don’t need a 5 string and I don’t need an active bass. What about you? That seems like a MAJOR determining factor in what you keep.

Could live without a 5 and without an active bass…

I didn’t vote because they’re all ‘slab o’wood’ basses. If you’re gonna limit yourself have a solid body, then a hollow/semi-hollow and then a good ABG. That’s REAL variety.

I voted 2, 5, 7 but nothing on that list actually has great appeal to me, in all honesty. Mostly aesthetics, I'm just not keen on FSOs.
