LMII - Run effects through loop, or input

What's the protocol for the MarkBass LMII?
I've never used an amp with an effects loop before.
I've tried it through the loop, and find the extra cables annoying.
Will it sound different, matter much, or harm the amp running through the input?
Haven't tried it yet.

I've tried both with my LM2 and I prefer running through the input. I'm not an expert on this but I think running through the loop loses the power of the LM2- not sure how to put it, but it just didn't have the kick of running it through the front. Someone can probably explain better than me what is happening.

Instrument level, put them in front of the amp, line level, put them in the loop.

+1 A rule of thumb that pretty much proxies the above:

If it's a pedal format, put it in-between your bass and amp. If it's a rack mount format, put it in the effects loop. This is true, in general, and not just for the LMII.

There is a school of thought that modulation and time based effects such as chorus, phaser, delay etc sound better after the pre-amp, in the fx-loop. But the LMII preamp is quite transparent anyway so you may notice no difference.

If you prefer it but find the extra cables annoying, you might try and find a multicore loom cable such as:

It occurred to me earlier to day that I might try it with my LMII and zoom B9.1ut as both have fx loops, and I can choose where in the chain (to an extent) where the fx loop in the Zoom sits. I already have a loom cable from when I was using stomp boxes too. (I used it to carry power and for wireless too)
