As an aside, this same tuner also exhibited the same behavior when plugged into the 'tuner out' jack on my Ernie Ball 25k Ohm volume pedal... designed for active basses/active circuit instruments. I accidentally left it plugged in after tuning during a show and noticed the same appreciable drop in volume and loss of top-end.

a true-bypass stage tuner or an a-b box rigged up to switch between tuning and playing would be a good "zero-loss" way to quickly tune.
