Logic Pro X vs ProTools/Mbox VS Focusrite Saffire

i am thinking to either get the ProTools 9 with Mbox Pro or just download the Logic Pro X for $260 and get saffire pro 26 which is about 100 bucks cheaper from the Mbox Pro and Pro Tools combo,

i am just wondering whether anyone have experienced with either setup, I read through some review on Mbox which mentioned it being unreliable and break easily.

i am trying to record instruments by instruments and do multiple track recording. Might be using some samples from my Maschine/Komplete that i currently have i am not really sure how will the workflow be and i am pretty new to this

I have no experience or whatsoever when it comes to recording the closest things I have is using native instruments maschine for making beats and such... I am thinking to go for mbox just because Ken Andrews from failure use them and his mixes are awesome

His studio appears to be an Pro Tools HD rig mixing in the box with a bunch of outboard setup as hardware inserts, maybe he uses an Mbox for mobile work but regardless none of this matters, he could use Garageband with the built in output jack and still do an awesome mix because he is highly experienced.

I wouldn't worry too much about the hardware, I think you should watch a few Logic and Pro Tools training videos and see which one seems the most intuitive to you. Whatever you choose make sure it's compatible with your computer and operating system.

Thanks for the recommendations guys, seemed like i might just go the logic pro x route for ease of system compatibility and build experiences from there since it is a cheaper software compared to like a pro tools HD, that way i might just go for a 2nd hand firewire interface as a start

I use Logic and Focusrite preamps/interfaces. My reasoning for why I prefer Logic is that it's native. No external DSP, which reduces latency (all things being equal) and plugins are less expensive. It does require a bigger investment in plenty of processing power and RAM (from Apple, which is generally more expensive than the PC alternatives to start), but getting a good result with PT requires a bigger investment in their outboard DSP hardware too and that doesn't include the cost of the interface. In my estimation, the price differences come out about the same or pretty close, just being spent in different places, and the reduced latency issues are worth it for me. I guess that doesn't account for PT LE, but that has less cost for peripherals and WAY more latency issues and restrictions/drawbacks anyway, so it's not really an even comparison. As for Focusrite intefaces, I just have very good experience with their sound and reliability. I like a solid, neutral sounding preamp and to put my color in at the source or through mixing, not by preamps with heavy character. I used to do that and I'm personally much more satisfied with my current approach, which is subjective. You will probably require a Firewire (or Firewire to Thunderbolt) adapter to use them, but that's not the worst thing in the world and it doesn't affect the performance. I do wish Focusrite would come out with some new product that's already equipped for Thunderbolt though.
