Logos & Brand Names you hate or love

I heard that Warwick was changing the logo/design of the Rockbass line, which is good, because the (old) logo looks like it was inspired by late 80s metal videos. In my opinion, of course.

Sadowsky is a dumb name IMO - although great basses I've heard. I think the Spector logo is cool (on the headstock) but their name kinda sucks too. Probably worse than that is Schecter...LOL...but not a bad logo either

First two that come to mind are Sterling= I'm such a narccisist, I'll name this model after ME! I have no problem with naming the company after one self, but a model? Fail.

Bongo= come on now, really. This one takes the cake. (required IMO) ... and from a company that gave us Stingray and Saber too (two very good names IMO)

My fave logo by far is the Fodera butterfly, but I'm not particularly attracted to the basses. I can't think of a bass I dislike because ot its' logo.

Jackson is one of those companies where, if looks were everything, I'd buy every Jackson guitar I've seen.

There's something about a white Jackson logo on a green headstock that fills me with joy...

Going back to this. I love the headstock when its reversed.

I don't like any of the peavey logos past or present. I also don't like Dean. Like someone said before, I can't get past the Dimebag thing. No offense but to me, he is the only person that looks cool playing those guitars. The Warwick Rock Bass logo is another that I don't like. I've always liked Ampeg's logo and the SWR logo. Fender is also one that I've always liked and I love the Stingray headstock but I hate the name Bongo. I like Ashdown's logo as well.

It does! Nasty. T-40 is a cool bass though.

I dig the Fender logo. I love the Jazz.

Ibanez logo is fine on a guitar (I've played them since '87) but not on a bass. I don't dig Ibanez basses very much at all.

I guess I just find it interesting, and somewhat amusing, that a guy that makes such a show, fuss and circus out of defend his copyright/trademarks, (he has every right to do that , but his antics regarding the subject are a bit absurd IMO. Go read the EBMM forum for some real jems from Mr. Ball) would chose a trademarked name such as Sterling for his new line of budget instruments.

Peavey has *always* reminded me of the cheap, crappy gear they used to make when they first came out - Horrid, noisy amps with cheezie pots and farty speakers... So the text of their logo, which hasn't hardly changed a bit, just screams CHEAP to me.

Then there are the brands that used to be good but went all budget, and so now just reek of crap: ESP, BC Rich, Kramer...

Now, I *love* Ibanez, since they are the absolute height of unintentional humor to me - - Come on, a Japanese company that started making imitation US guitars with a Spanish name - - how can you not love that? Besides, they've made some good, innovative axes over the year. Ibanez gets some love from me.

I used to HATE the MusicMan logo - it looked so goofy, with the quasi John and Paul up there... but they have proved to be good instruments, so my perception changed...

Ah - last one, for me - Epiphone. Epiphone used to be a very respected US company that got bought by Gibson and then used to offshore their US models. That just seems cheap to me... So I don't like Epiphone.... but that's just me.

I actually like the Peavey logo. It takes me back to high school and makes me feel like hair bands will one day rule the earth again. But I don't think I'll ever buy a piece of Peavey equipment regardless. The T-40 is a badass bass in a parted down the middle feathered hair sort of way, looks like it was made to play bad Led Zep covers in a pot smoke heavy Gymnasium somewhere!

I find it interesting and amusing that in so many of these threads, ostensibly about the instruments, you find a way to inject your personal opinion about someone you don't know, will probably never meet - but who also happens to be a good friend to my entire family.
