Long or Extra Long

I am an Elixir fan when it comes to my guitars. I am new to the bass, however. I found strings from Elixir that match the specs of the strings that the bass shipped with, but there were two choices, the only difference being one is long and one is extra long. My bass is a Squier Jaguar VM. What would determine if the extra long is needed?

You don't need extra long. If its the long scale jag you need longscale strings, and shortscale stings if it's the shortscale jag.
