Longer screws for pickups on Ibanez SR505

so these screws go into the wood I guess from what my tech friend said, I’m going to look later. The Barolinis would not raise up anymore so he put new padding under them for me, but for the bridge pup to be up to a proper height, the screws are at the last threads about. He found one longer screw in his bin but it’s got a bigger head, I want it to look nice.

So irritating I swear. Not like I’m trying to rewire everything, just want it to look nice and play the damn thing.

Who’s the best screw hook up around lol?

I went through this deal of not having long enough pickup screws.
Often the problem is that it becomes hard to find a longer screw that is the same diameter.
They usually assume that with a longer screw, you are trying to hold something heaftier and therefore you might have to go up a size to also get the extra length. Not saying it’s a useless search, just that it may take more searching.

Would it be possible to determine the minimum height that the pickup would ever need to be and then glue a strip of wood in the bottom of the route so you could use the same screws? Might have to go to thinner foam, but maybe the extra wood would allow you to raise the pickup and still have enough bit on the threads to hold things in place?

The hardware store might also be a source for springs to push the pickup up against the screwheads rather than using foam.

Good ideas, sure hope I can find screws before I have do do that though lol. Yeah might have to do that. This bass is in perfect shape, only thing is the pups wouldn’t push up, I had someone pull them and put new foam under, I’m wondering what the heck happened like if the foam was too thick and it stripped the holes a little or something idk.

Check the usual on-line suspects for guitar parts.

As far as the hardware stores, they may have all common sizes, but not necessarily all sizes in all lengths.

I have drilled out the pickup mounting screw holes to the next size up, like #3 to #4. Going to#4 got e a longer screw in a common size The heads tend to get larger too, so be sure you still have screw head to pickup body clearance.

Think I might just cut a piece of wood and raise the bottom of the cavity, unless I get lucky at the bolt and screw warehouse tomorrow. These screws counter sink into the bartolini pups, that screw head is tiny.....
