Not to derail … but, I'm opening for Molly Hatchet soon. I looked it up and it turns out there are ZERO original members. So in essence, I'm opening for a Molly Hatchet tribute.

This is hilarious! This is the band equivalent of The Ship of Theseus.

I find it highly amusing that The Ship of Theseus has itself had all the parts replaced until it became George Washington's hatchet. I guess there's your answer right there - no, it's not the same entity.

That's becoming increasingly common. Mick Jones owns the rights to Foreigner, and only goes on the road with them when his health allows it. No other original members are regularly involved. Jim Kale and Garry Peterson own the rights to the Guess Who, and only Peterson still gigs with the group. Jim Kale retired in 2016. I'll be entirely unsurprised if a version tours after Peterson calls it a day.(To be fair a version with no originals did tour for a bit at the end of the '70s.)
