Looked like we needed another Sadowsky thread, so...

Nice score, Adrian! I'm lovin' my Tokyo 5 (formerly owned by Nino)... it's now my only 5-string fretted. Plays superbly (esp nice in the upper frets), sounds like a million $$: very full/even/responsive/solid/clear/growly when I want it to be, etc.

I've thought about swapping out the single-coils + pre for Sad hum-cancellers and a NYC pre, but am happy as-is. The single-coils do have some noise when solo'd, but they're the quietest single-coils I've ever experienced... a testament to the shielding of the bass/cavity/probably within the pup covers, too.

I'm really likin' the black finish w/blocks... matches my '71 Jazz (except you need to put a WBW guard on it). :D

Are the "Tokyo" basses the predecessor to the Metro, because I only see the NYC and Metros on the Sadowsky site.

Kind of... the Tokyo's have full-sized bodies, single-coils and the Tokyo pre (similar to NYC pre but with treble cut, and supposedly slightly "warmer" sound, FWIW). They're no longer made AFAIK.

Metros have the 7/8 body, hum-cancellers and the NYC pre, and are currently made, also in Japan.

Welcome back to the Fold Brother Adrian , Sadowsky Tokyo certainly does count!.I really loved mine but had to part with it to help finance the Greenburst 5 with quilt top Roger is building for me :hyper:. How do you like the neck profile?, it really did it for me , nice wide and flat.Welcome back and keep rockin Bro. :) :bassist:

another full day rehearsal and the bass smoked! like has been said here before, very even, growly when you dig in, and clean and very expressive. The neck feels great, Major!
the neck pocket is RIDICULOUS. it is probably the tighest i have ever seen.
I ordered a couple of alternative pickguards from a guy that made one that is on the bass now- it has a matte black one now, but i wanted the b/w/b like the original and i also ordered a black pearloid- i will probably be buying a couple more 'outfits' for it as i go along.
Bikeplate, i KNOW! it is nice and ligt and comfy... super nice Jazz bass!

Thanks, Mike- with the Comfort Strapp ad the lighter weight, it should be ok for me, I also have to wear the bass sometimes for 3 gigs in one day, so my back thanks me.
Andy, indeed, it was Tom's bass, i grabbed it but quick! i had another fella send me an email, but he decided to keep it, if i hear from him, i will send him your way- peace!- A

Great score adrian!! I really would like to have gotten a Tokyo myself but I thought they were all over 10 Lbs!! You lucky dog!! My NYC is 8.4 lbs and I REALLY appreciate the lighter weight on those long sessions....I've got a NYC Caramel Burst Ash/Malple coming and I HOPE that it is as light or lighter than the one I have now....Welcome to the club!!! Play the heck out of her and keep us posted!!

Peace,

T
