Looking at a new Warwick Bass, but.....

I'm looking at picking up a new Warwick Bass, but recently I have seen many of them on refurbished outlet stores and/or for parts, not working. This makes me wonder if there is some huge quality issue with Warwick that they are dumping new bass guitars instead of fixing them. I'm starting to question picking one up.

Anybody have any thoughts on this subject? I suppose it's possible that this is business as usual for all the manufacturers and I just never noticed.... What do ya think?

I got a Warwick from one of the refurb places, and it was 100% great. No idea what got it sent to the refurb bin, but these days it seems to be just the same as 'factory 2nd', which could mean something as small as a bubble in the clearcoat.

PS. Those warwicks on refurbished outlet stores are the unfinished raw warwick basses that mysteriously disappeared from the warwick factory long tme ago when mars and saturn were visible to the naked eye below the bright star sirius..

i own a warwick custom shop german made neck thru thumb bass. Their quality is amazing, their builds are awesome and the tones man the tones jesus!!!! The fretless with epoxied fretboard just sings like mad. Do not hesitate but i would find a used one in good condition usually they are about 2 grand up to 3 grand used in great condition. A lot of people sell them because they are unsure of the neck and feel of the bass that and we have a lot of complainers about weight. The weight is just the price you pay for tone! They go for used at very affordable prices so just keep a look out for them. BTW i have played every model type of warwick there is they are all great it is just a matter of taste a lot sell them because it wasnt the tone they envisioned or the feel they were looking for. if you are ever in nashville, tn the US distributor for custom shop is there go play all the models and figure out what you like. Then go on line and find a used one for a steal you will be very happy trust me it is as great as i envisioned it would be and over 8 months later i am still in the honeymoon phase!

2004 warwick 6 string thumb nt made in germany - 2800 in mint condition used from an ebay seller
defret, and poly urethane with hidden side markers for blank fretless board look - 700 (the best luthier in my state good deal)
bartolini pickups and 3 band preamp - 350 plus installation roughly 100 bucks
so for all in about 4200 i got my dream bass in pristine condition and am still loving it today versus the 7 to 8 grand new. That is a steal considering the environmental restrictions on import they cannot poly the fretboard at the factory you have to pay to get it done which i prefer the poly tone of a fretless with rounds on it.
