Looking for a £300 ($550) starter bass - Italia Modulo

I was supposed to be buying a Fender P-bass Lyte from a mate, but on second thoughts he decided he doesnt want to let it go because they are quite hard to get hold of here (UK).

Ive been looking at bass's around the £300 mark coz in my mind i want something thats better than basic, looks the part, and im not going to want to change immediately. Anyway, i came across the Italia Modulo, in my eyes it look sin awesome in all finishes, but does anyone know how it plays? It has the unique lipstick pickups (one for each string), and as im going to be playing rock and metal music im just wondering wether in your opinions htis woul dbe suitable?

I noticed this also, theres a link to it, but it takes you to a different bass altogether.

You did pick the best looking of the bunch. I do wonder how those pickups work. I'd go for the silver one provided it plays and sounds well.
