The only ones I'm aware of are the Fender Nate Mendel signature and a Markbass model (forget the model name). Not looking to build a parts bass. Open to JJ or P or PJ config, medium or long scale. Budget is $2k. Any suggestions?

Looking for a 4 string with a P bass body and J neck

I think the Lakland Skyline 44-64 Custom still has a J neck. I had one for 10 years when it was called the Duck Dunn signature model, and it was great.
Since you opened the door to non Fenders, try Yamaha BBs. Way more bass per dollar. Neck is closer to a J than a P, although the profile is a little different its shallow and fast.

Great necks, exceptionally nice examples are still selling for about the price of a new Squier Affinity.
Just be aware QC may have gotten a bit lax in the later ('90s) ones. I have a '95 that was shockingly good and a '94 that needed a bunch of work to make it playable.

After thinking about this for a bit, G&L will do a 1-1/2" nut on a build-to-order LB or SB as well.

The SB-2 defaults to a 1-1/2" size so he could grab something in stock. I had a 1-1/2" ordered for my L2000 and that kinda slowed down the process.
I think G&L stopped offering build to order neck size options except for custom shop orders, but I found this used LB-100 with a 1.5" nut and love how it plays
The Nate Mendel doesn't have a J neck. J's have A necks (nut width 1.5"). The Mendel has a B neck (1.615"), which is not much narrower than Fender's current standard p bass nut width of 1.625". So if you've actually played a Mendel and found it comfortable, you might be fine with all sorts of other Fender Precisions.
Thanks for the correction. I never played a Mendel. I used to have a 77 P and sold it eventually cause the neck profile was a fat U and standard P nut width. I like a J neck with a modern C more but want a smaller P body.
Agree 100% and wandering why Fender doesn't offer something similar in their "standard" range of products.
In my area, both Lakland and Sire are kicking the behind of Fender big time !
Preferring the wider spacing at the nut, I've simply put a P neck on every J I've ever owned. Most folks go rhe other way, but there are plenty of spare necks out tgere. Does that make it a "parts" bass?

I would bet there are several of them of them in the TB classified. For that price, you might even find a used Lull or similar.
The Fender Deluxe Active Pbass Specials have a Jazz neck with PJ config. I'm not sure what the dates on this particular version run is but mine is 2017.
