Looking for a 5 String MM / P configuration...

I can't for the life of me find this. I think I'm going to have to have it made, but Warmoth won't route it I don't think. I basically want a vintage style with a MM pickup in the bridge (coil splitter a plus) and a P pickup in the neck. I'm just not a jazz kind of guy I guess. Anyway, does anyone know someone who makes this or will I just have to have it done custom?

Find an American Deluxe P5....I have one and it is incredible. They are discontinued, but I saw one for sale here in the classifieds not too long ago.

Mine has an aguilar pre (it came that way) so I cannot speak for the standard fender controls.

Yeah I've been looking for one of those, but they're impossible to find in a five...also Fender 5 necks are kind of bleh. The people who seem to make this kind of bass are mostly European (ex Clover) I've looked through about 20 custom builders.

I know there are those for whom this won't matter, but I find it particularly ironic that FENDER put the A string on the wrong coil on their P5. Fender, the guys who "invented*" the P bass, messed up something so simple.....

*we all know aside from maybe the OLD lady in the pickup dept, there is nobody still at fender from the days of the P bass' inception, and any "we invented it" crap from them translates more into "we bought the company from someone who bought the company from the guy who was the real guy, about forty years ago, we're just suits, we've invented nothing", but still......

Harsh.......but I think you're right.
