Looking for a 6 string fretless bass...

Right now I play a Schecter Stiletto Custom-5 fretted bass.

I really like that bass, and I'm looking to get my first fretless. I'd like it a 6 string because a high C would be nice to have on a fretless. I was hoping that Schecter made the Stiletto in a fretless 6er, but it doesn't look like (they do make the 5 though...)

Anyone have any recommendations for me? I don't see too many fretless 6 strings around. I'm not really sure where to start. My budget is about $1000, give or take a few hundred.

edit: I don't mind buying used

If you can find one a music man bongo 6 fretless, I've heard good things about them. Also +1 to carvin, working on my build, very supportive and the guys on the phone know what their talking about.

These are difficult to find under $1K new

I bought a Brice on Ebay 2 years ago, as a training tool and was quite impressed, It played almost as good as my Ibanez SR505 5-string, Electronics aren't as good but with a good preamp it sounded so-so. I dont have it anymore and I dont see it on their website anymore.

warning !! - It is quite unbalanced (neck heavy) - as are most cheapo Chinese basses but being a 6-string it was quite annoying. I only played it sitting and for practice.

I was thinking about this... I would be too scared to do it myself. I'd have to find someone to do it for me for a reasonable price.

Idk what the normal rate is for a fretless conversion, but it isn't hard to do yourself if you're patient:). Although, I wouldn't do it to an expensive bass.... I'm doing a conversion on a squier neck right now that is turning out really well.

I can't see the procedure costing more than $300 done by a professional though, but it's probably much less than that depending on the finish you want applied to the fingerboard.
