Looking for a Lightweight cab review...

My money (and my tone) are in a Genz Benz Neox 2x12 - it weighs 60 pounds runs 600 watts at 4 ohms and has amazing response and tone across the board.

FWIW, the PH212 weighs 66 lbs, and the PH112 weighs 44 lbs.

Ok, I see what you mean, those aren't as heavy-weight as the other PH cabs -- some of whose gravitational attraction to this planet are, er, considerable, huh? ;^>

Yeah, their 10" drivers are still ceramic, but I was pushing them hard to find an acceptable neodymium 10" driver. They have been searching for a while and have not been 100% satisfied with their options so far. But Jim Aschow said that it was one of his priorities to find a neo 10" option.

My kick ass light weight rig
Mark Bass LMIII=300w 8 ohm/500w 4 ohm
Galien Kreuger Neo 210 8ohm=400w
Light, loud takes all I can throw at it without farting out. The only 210 that I have used that can take the low B of a Roscoe at a reasonable sound levels (I.E gig/rehearsal) without imploding I'm gonna add another neo 210 and have a rig that's unbeatable in it's price range

I was recently shopping for 4x10s, and I liked the PH410 best of anything I tried, by a good margin. But then I tried to pick it up... :^/

I hated to put practicality ahead of sound, but I ended up getting something much lighter -- a different cab that I liked the sound of, oh, about 91% as well. I'm quite happy with it, but sometimes I wonder if I would have been ecstatic playing thru the PH.

I put the odds of them going to a lightweight neo 10" driver at "pretty darned good." As far as switching to lighter weight wood, or less internal bracing, etc., I am not so sure.

My current bass rig for Jazz is my Acoustic Image Clarus 2R (a little over 4 lbs) with an Acme Bb 1x10 cabinet (about 40lbs). I soon will replace the Acme (which sounds great) with an Epifani UL2 110 (24lbs). The goal is to be able to go from my truck to a club with my entire bass rig in one trip (with both an upright and electric!).

I have had good luck with the Epifani UL series cabinets. We have an nice UL rig at work that has a 15 on the bottom and 3 tens on the top. Who would have ever thought that I could walk up a set of stage steps with an entire Bass stack...
