Looking for a practice amp

Hello fellow TBer's

Since I have an influx of Christmas cash I am looking at buying my first amp

I've been running a rather ghetto setup using my subwoofer from my surround sound system as an amp.

I'm stuck between the Acoustic B10 and B20.

I play on a Schecter Damien 5 with EMG Actives.

I'm worried that by choosing the B10 I won't be able to get enough overall tone, especially from the B string. However, I am in college and $50 saving seems like it would be a reasonable trade off.

Has anyone used both, or other amps in the wattage ranges to give advice? Are there any other suggestion you folks would offer?

I intend on odering from Musicians Friend, and I want a low price but quality amp.

Thanks fellow bassists!

$50 isn`t THAT much money to suffer from losing when it comes to getting a better amp - and this is coming from another broke college student. Especially considering if I get a bad tone, no amount of money spent will coerce me to continue playing.

That said, I don`t know enough about Acoustic to be that much of assistance, although I do think you could do even better and perhaps get a used Ampeg combo for about $175 used.

i'm trying to unload an ibanez soundwave 20, it's a great practice amp, can get loud enough to get over a drum set, the knobs offer a great sound diversity. I played on a 5 and the lows came out boomingly clear, but if i tweaked it, could get them muddy too. and theres a headphone jack baha. Even if you don't want mine i'd recommend picking it up SOMEWHERE ^^
