Looking for a pro strap

There are straps that cost $5 and straps that will cost more than $500.

A "pro" strap is one that will fit your needs, made of the the best materials and workmanship you can afford.

In other words- go for the more than $5 strap (although for many, the $5 strap is perfectly serviceable.)

I've had a strap custom made for me for under $50.

Check the Ebay for leather workers- I don't remember who did mine- but I'm plenty happy with it!

All of my leather straps a Levy's. They make a good product at a reasonable price. However, the one you linked to is a 2.5" strap. For bass, look for a 3" or wider, unless you have a very lightweight instrument. I recommend this 4-1/2" one:

But...but Brad Johnson told us if you do it right, you'll have no problem installing a strap lock. Nonetheless, I can get Schallers onto the neck end of a Levi strap only with patience and difficulty, and I can't get Dunlops onto that end no matter what.

I have a couple of basses that weigh 12 pounds. Stand up for a couple hours, and you'll come to the conclusion that IF you're going to play something that heavy, you do NOT want to scrimp on a strap. I had one custom made, 4" wide at the shoulder and padded. Cost $150, and worth every penny.

Buying a cheap strap is a false economy. When you're more focused on the pain in your shoulder than in playing music, you're not helping anyone.

The hands down best (imho) leather strap (and I've owned MANY different types) is the Tango Leather Guitar and Bass Straps made by TB member Templar. They come in different widths, different color leathers, different stitching, etc. Very soft and supple leather used. Jack hand makes these and I've not found a better strap. Matter of fact, it's all I use now. My Levy's and the others sit in a cardboard box in my closet.

I have 2 of the straps your looking at and their good. I also like the Levy MSS2-4 as it has the extra padding and is slightly wider. My new fav though is the Sandowsky Neoprene strap it flexes and is super comfortable on heavy basses. No matter how good the strap is though I always use straplocks.
