Looking for a Theory book

Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for a new theory book to stretch my brain; I often like to get a new concept every few years and integrate it into what I know.

I've already had a lot of experience with Mark Levine's book, as well as the Dick Grove method, so I'm looking for suggestions.

I'm not specifically looking for an advanced book, although that wouldn't be discounted; I do like going back to square 1 for this sometimes.

So if you would be so kind, what would you recommend and why?

I'd suggest you go to your public library and look in the stacks for what they may have. Yes it may not be bass related, however, theory is theory.

Pick a topic, harmony for example and see what they have. I visited the public library at our Daughters home several years ago and while wondering in the stacks I felt a presence behind me. It was the research librarian, she asked if she could help me find what I was looking for. I replied that I was wanting something on harmonizing the melody. I left with three books on the subject. Can not give you the titles as I had to turn them in before I left town and it's been several years, but, try your public library.....

Dave Liebman's book 'A Chromatic Approach to Harmony' is great. Liebman also has a few out in the Aebersold series of books which are worth taking a look at.
