Looking for a value-for-money fretless

Hi, new member here.

I'm after a fretless bass with a warm yet ballsy tone similar to a Musicman Stingray, but cheaper. I'm thinking of a 4-string, but I wouldn't say no to 5 or 6. Preferably active rather than passive.

Purchased a Jay Turser MM copy here for $100.00 USD. Had my luthier defret and plane the fingerboard, added a bone nut and even with the stock pots and p/u this thing is definitely a keeper. Fretless bliss with new flatwounds for under $200.

Are any of these similar to a Wal fretless? I've just heard that the Fretless Jazz isn't the best for getting a Wal'ish tone (too nasally in the mids).

I purchased a used G&L SB-2 fretless for $500. I doubt it sounds anything like a wal but the MFD pickups are very aggressive.
