What about a Tonebender clone instead? Or a Swollen Pickle clone? They're somewhat similar to Big Muffs.

You could also check out the MXR El Grande... it's more controlled than the Big Muff is, built for bass, and very compact.

Or you could reconsider your size requirement and wait for the Bass Big Muff.

Are they at all smoother than the big muff? If they are I don't want one.

I kinda still like the no control wall of sound ripping through ear buds sound that the big muff has.

How big is the new bass muff? It's in an xo housing right? I'm also not sure I want something with so much bass in it as it just wont be heard in the low pass envelope.

Does anybody have a clip of the supercollider with the treble cranked?

The Tonebender and El Grande are more controlled and much less "creamy" on the lower tone settings. They're capable of some truly raging gain and bright aggressive tones. So... "smooth" isn't the word for them when they're cranked.

Meanwhile, the Pickles and their clones are Big Muff variants.

Yep. Same as a SansAmp, Little Big Muff, etc., etc.

That's what the mode switch and Tone knob are for.

Well, I listened to a few clips of the tonebender clones, and the colorsound ones, and I think I can say it's not what I'm looking for. I did like the pickles, but they are either too expensive, or not enough tweakability. I'm picky, and besides, this is just going to sit in my envelope loop. I think I'm still going to go with the 1290 supercollider.

The Supercollider is probably more up your alley, as would be the Bass Big Muff, I speculate.

I was just throwing non-Muff-based ideas out there, just in case.
