Looking For Bass

To be honest I'm happy with my ATK305 but, if it came in rosewood instead of maple fretboard I'd never buy another bass again.

However since I switched to fives my other bass a RBX170 a passive P/J with rosewood fretboard is just sitting there. However I love the low B and I'm not gonna mod my RBX170 since it's my first. Instead I plan on passing it to my nephew when he's old enough. (He's expected on sometime in July :D)

So here's where you come in I'm looking for a 5 string bass it must be

Active (3 band eq or atleast lows and highs)

P/J

with a Rosewood fretboard

AND Under a grand (USD)

Thanks for the future help and responses.

I have thought about them but, I've only been able to find passive one's that are new
I know a few years ago or maybe a year ago I saw active BB's at my local GC but, can't really say I've been in a GC in awhile so I don't know.

Do they sell active BB's anymore?

I saw one at a local shop a while back that some guy on TB ended up getting. It was fretless and dirt cheap ($400!!!)

If you find a passive one, why not just swap out the electronics? I think that would open up some doors, and you'd have control over exactly what preamp & pickups go into it.

It's okay **** happens we're human.

Anyways I think I may have found a bass but, does anybody know
if these are any good? Let me correct that I know Schecter makes good stuff but, I've never had a chance to play these paticular instruments.

I can't really tell if it's active or not.

The thing that intrigues me is it says it can split the humbucker into a single coil.
But, what worries me is that it only has three knobs which to me is a red flag considering
that's just how many knobs I got on my RBX170 which is passive. Any thoughts?

Okay I did detective work and used the SEARCH BAR *slaps face*
and found out that this is in fact passive.

However do you guys think it'd be possible to just put in a preamp and leave the rest
of the bass alone. (I've never even attempted gutting something before and was wondering since it seems so many posters do their own pup and pre swapping on here)

I tried a friends LTD once. It felt cheap I think it was like a B-104 or something with a flame maple top
I found it replusive look wise. I since strayed far away from them however ESP's I like but,
they don't have any P/J's in their five strings selection online I found.
