Looking for custom pedal makers that do more unique and original ideas.

I have an idea for a synthy sounding fuzz pedal with a very specific sound in mind (which some of you know since I’ve definetly discussed it in other threads). Since it looks like no one has every really attempted it, I thought I’d maybe see about doing a custom order. I’ve contacted Fjord Fuzz after seeing a post someone made about the a couple of months ago since he makes really unique and original sounding fuzz pedals and is willing to take on some custom ideas, and he seems to think he should be able to make what I’m looking for. But before I go forward with it, I wanted to make sure I’m choosing the best option for this endeavor.

After a quick search the names that came up were [SFX] Custom Shop, Master Effects, DiCosimo Audio, Mark at Make Sounds Loudly, Peppers’ Pedals, Henretta Engineering, and Goforth Sound. (I also know about John K, but I have already contacted him and just haven’t heard back yet.) They all seem to do recreations of more traditional circuits, or modded versions with one or two extra features on pedals that already exist, or combining two pedals in to one type deals, but I haven’t seen much along the lines of them making something with an original sound that no one has really attempted before. Does anyone know is one of these makers do this, or know of someone that does this that I have not listed?

Have you looked at the 3Leaf Audio Doom 2? I heard the clip you posted in another thread about what you're looking for, and it sounds like it's in here if you listen through the demo...the original is very versatile, and the new Doom 2 has even more options to dial in specific sounds.

It’s definetly been mentioned, and I’ve definetly been contemplating it. Sort of realized after posting this that I should maybe try it first and see since there are only a hand full of demos out there, and the one you posted is really the only one of the Doom 2. No way to really know if it is/isn’t what I want unless I hear it in person. That’s just hard to do since they are so sparse, I can’t just drive to my local music store and try one. The comments I read on it saying that it didn’t have as much “bite” and was “closer to a square wave” also made me skeptical.

I’d also need to figure out which version to get. I’ve heard some say that the differences on the original sound are indistinguishable and others say they both sound clearly different. Demos of the original sound much more like they have that choppy sputtering type of effect found in synths, but again, there’s really only one demo of the Doom 2 to compare them to. I certainly like the added features of the Doom 2 more, but that choppyness is going to be a must for me.

I’ve already asked him. He said he wouldn’t know how to make one.
