Looking for experience: SquarePlug SP400 vs Rean RP2RCF

I'm planning on rewiring my entire board with lo profile square plugs. I know people have great experiences with the SP400. I'm looking for reviews on the RP2RCF, particularly how sturdy the internal construction is for soldering.

Other than the size and price differences, are there differences in how well they solder and hold up?

I can only speak to the SP-400.

Size, ease of assembly, pedalboard functionality, all quite satisfactory.

Hot tip; spend the extra pennies for the black ones, very sexy.

The size difference is likely the only real determining factor. If you are one of the top jacked, Tetris Pedalboard Queens, then the size should make the choice for you.

So I bought two of each. It's obvious once in your hands that only the SP400 will work for a soldered alternative to buying EBS flat patch cables. On tight patch bays like the back of a Boss ES-5 the Rean will not even fit side by side (which I don't explicitly show here, but it's obvious given the smaller SP400s are as tight of a fit as you'll get).

So, for a soldered flat profile plug that's cost saving and capable of custom lengths, and with a cable that feels more sturdy than the EBS flat patch, the SP400 is the clear option.

And for anyone who isn't 100% sure, the Mogami 2319 feels like a more secure fit than the 2314 that Redco recommends with the SP400. It's plenty flexible too:

If only you had mentioned your boss ES-5 in your original post, I could’ve assured you without a doubt that only the SP 400s would work. There’s no such thing as too much information.

Yeah, that's on me. It's just a part of a larger board so it slipped my mind. Oh well, it's been useful for me to have the visuals at least. Hopefully it's useful as a searchable answer to other TBers too

I probably would have let cost drive me to buying the wrong connectors. This post saved me.

Should've come to TB first before Googling for comparisons of EBS and Squareplug. Thanks for the photos and info, @BunchyMutt.

I've been using EBS cables for years but I want to really tidy up my new board with handmade, soldered cables. I'm not exactly geeked about the process of assembly, though I'm a competent solderer, but it'll be worth it to have exactly the lengths and connection ends I need for my board.

I've done my pedalboard with Squareplug SP500 and Rapco Horizon cable. Very pleased with the result.
I'm waiting on the SP550-S to complete it.

I should get some supplies to make some of these. I have a couple premade patch cables with the SP400 and they are really nice.

When I started out with a pedalboard I got a bunch of pancake patch cables and they are just so big compared to the Squareplugs.
