I have Grado SR60s and Sennheiser HD280s - the Grados are definitely better for practicing bass thru...

Grado cans are great.

My main cans are Sennheiser HD580's. but I think those are discontinued now.

I would recommend sol republic. They aren't ridiculous bass like beats, but very well balanced towards the full spectrum with good bass response.

The on ears get uncomfortable after a few hours, but the new over ears are much better, and sound way better.

Finally, their price isn't ridiculous.

For me, I have two pair that I switch between, depending on the situation.

In ear: Klipsch S4i or Klipsch Image x10i (If you want to spend the extra and go for it, I would recommend these).

Over ear: M Audio Q40 with Beyerdynamic velour pads. These things pack a punch, but don't eliminate or kill any of the other frequencies.
