Looking for ideas and input.....

I'm gigging on weekly basis, sometimes two or three times a week, with my Ampeg BA210v2 with no problems at all. Great amp. Just a tad heavy.

The Ampeg, as I understand it, is 278 watts out of the box. Adding an 8 ohm extension delivers the full 450 rated watts. I've been curious to hear how it would sound so, I recently picked up an almost new Acoustic BN210 Neo extension cab at a price that was too good to turn down.

I can tell you I was very happy with the performance and sound of both. So much so that I'm considering picking up a bass power head to have around that can serve as a spare or, just to give me more options. I may even look at adding another cab down the road. Based on the positive comments and reviews I've been reading here lately, it may very well be the Acoustic BN112 Neo cabinet.

I'm interested in the flexibility a single, 2x10 offers, as well as a single 1x12 or a mini-stack consisting of both if such need and circumstance arises.

The Ampeg PF350, TC Electronics BH250 and the Acoustic B300HD all fall within budget to complete this little project.

So, my fellow keepers of the bottom, what say you? Can you help a brother out?

Any advice, recommendations or experience with any of the amps listed above?

Thanks!

i have personally used both the tc electronic bh250 head n a fender rumble 200w head with either a single 12 cab or 2x12 cabs ... it all depends on pa support but with a good eq a 2x12 stack and 200-250watts should be ok at least most of my situations ... Gby hope it helps

I have experience with the Acoustic 300HD. I purchased it on a whim to practice with a band after a long absence when I had no amplifier or cab. It could not have been a bigger mistake to me.

I'm not a knob twiddle. I set it flat, get as much growl from the amp before it distorts, then eq based on the room, which ultimately results in a relatively flat eq.

The amp was terrible. No matter where I set it, it was only give and take... and some of the features didn't work out of the box, like the compressor. Also, the knobs were scratchy. It was a shame because the tone as played solo, was okay. Nothing spectacular, but a low to middle of the road amp.

The PF350 is a pretty good option if you're deciding between new amps only. If you're considering used options, the PF500 or 800 can offer much more, such as the compressor, mid selector, and fx mix, if you use on board loops.

The bh250 (and 550) was a contender for me some time back, but the tone print stuff doesn't seem as well supported as it was represented. The tone is clean and relatively uncolored. The bh250 seemed light on features to be useful for my needs though.

Best of luck with your choice.

If you're looking for any more suggestions, the GK MB200, or 500 are both stellar choices as well.

Thanks for that info. I've already ordered the head and it's due to arrive tomorrow. If it's not up to expectations, I'll exchange it for the Ampeg PF350.
