Looking for some good speaker advice

Hey I have an old GK GLX 410 and I hate the sound it has, I blew out two speakers a long time ago and have just kept it over the years. I want to put some new speakers in there for a project and suggestions? I would like to be able to handle like 1000W

Good luck with 1000w, bro. Even the best ones can't really handle 1000w. If you get 500w into a 410 before it farts out, then you're doing really good. As for the cab, I would suggest taking a loss on it and start over. Speakers are going to be worth more than the cab is worth.

Ask GK what to put in it, and how much. If you rebuild it, I'd bet you can sell it for ~225 USD. Are the two working drivers in good shape? If so, get two like them, and sell it to some one wanting a starter cab. If the (however many) drivers cost well under $25 total, you win.

Take your profit, save some more, and get a better cabinet.

Eminence has a 7 year guarantee on all drivers, you select your speaker based on the size of the cabinet. Do you know what the internal volume is? Or at least outside dimensions, can guess pretty close from that. Also sealed or ported? Knowing none of that I think a DELTA 10 is what you are after. I would also look into Faital and B&C neo drivers(MarkBass uses custom B&C)

Look for the highest SPL, that is the efficiency, which is how loud your speaker is. They measure it 1 watt per Decibel at One meter, so 101spl means 101 watts gives you 10o Decibels. Anything lower that 95db is considered weak for a bass cabinet.

Also OHMS are important to at least sort of understand, you need to make sure your 4 speakers combined will give you 8 or 4 ohms, 4 ohms will make your amp pull more wattage. If you plan to combine this rig with a 15" or a 210 you should wire it as 4 ohm, and then use an 8 ohm 15 or 210, that balances everything out and your 410 will get twice the juice as the weaker cab. If you are using it alone I would go with a 4 ohm load, that is just my preference.

Combining series and parallel
Four 4 ohm speakers = 4 ohm load
Four 8 ohm speakers = 8 ohm load

Wired in parallel
Four 8 ohm speakers = 2 ohm load
Four 16 ohm speakers = 4 ohm load

Another thing to compare is the XMAX, that shows you how far the speaker can move without damage. A driver with an xmax of 5 is going to move more air than one with 3.

I just got a cabinet loaded with Delta 10's, if you love loud midrange thump, that a good choice for the money ( I have only tried them in a 210 cabinet), about $80, at 300/600 watts I think you put 1000 watts into 4 of those. A Legend BP102 will have a little more bottom end, but it won't be as loud and you won't have the mid's . If you want a very deep low end A Kappa-Pro10lf will give you that for 130$ each.

Everyone says not to mix drivers in a cabinet, but 2 Delta-10's for punch, and 2 Kappa-ProLF seems like would excellent cab.

You can find reconed PAS drivers on ebay sometimes.

Bag end uses 3 of one kind, and one of another in most of their 410's anyone know what that's about?

I'm about to have a 410 loaded with reconed Eminence 101140b drivers, I'll let you know how those compare to the Delta 10's. That is an OEM speaker used by Aguilar SDK-10 in the db series, 101140's are also used by Ampeg in SVT cabinets. You can find them used/reconed easy.

Also I have a guy that can get the recone parts for GK speakers as well if you want to fix what you have, Crawdad's speakers can get them. Those are the goldlines? I almost bought 9 of those drivers with blown motors, intending to recone them, but I heard they are terrible.

For $30 each these look good to me. Read the reviews tho, apparently the specs aren't quite right. I have NOT tried them personally yet, but they have a money back guarantee, I will try some eventually. 4 new speakers for a little over 100$ seems like you couldn't lose to me. This is the company that also makes those fake Hartke speakers.

This cab WAS my beginner cab, I still love it, I have no idea about anything basically.... I kinda just wanted something as a spare 500W is fine, probably what is more practical. I just want a project that I can keep myself busy with and learn more about how to contruct a cab. Flameworker you defninitely gave me a good place to start. However I don't like a lot of mids, I am a big fan of deep, warm, punch, growl type of sound. Ill have to get some more dimensions for you tomorrow.
