I'll getting real sick and tired of you guys suggesting the Grizzly all the time when their aren't any in the classifieds. How's about one of you just send me yours so I can check it out for a few days or months...

Anyone try a Grizzly on a double bass? As that's the intended use -- and I'd be curious to know myself; some effects/amps which are great for electric bass don't translate so well to DB while others do.

I like either the original Hartke preamp pedal and the Solid Gold Beta for this type of thing with the gain settings low. I loved by BBE preamp with a tube but sold it for a more compact system. Just one of many gear regrets.

Nope, I will probably not use it with my double bass. It's to warm up the sound of my bassguitar through my double bass rig

The Grizzly does like a hotter signal, so maybe not ideal for an upright...but I don't know, I only play electric.

Many many years ago I used a Tube Works Blue Tube. I don't think it is made any more, but you might be able to get one used at a good price. It warmed up the sound nicely. It really didn't have enough drive (with my pickups) to distort, but that was fine for what I wanted to do with it.

Looks like Butler Audio Inc. has picked up the original Tube Works pedal, but I can't find the Blue Tube on their web page (Butler Audio)

I second on the Hartke VXL Bass Attack. Adds a lot of warmth. AND it's inexpensive.

Howdy folks. I'm looking for a pedal that can add some clean tube warmth to my sound. I'm a double bass player using an Acoustic Image amp and a MAS45 cabinet. It's super clean and sounds great for upright bass. Recently I'm also playing bassguitar in my band. However, my bassguitar sounds a little sterile throught that amp/cabinet. I'd love to add some clean tube warmth to it. I say clean because I really don't need any distortion extravaganza. Is there such a pedal on the market? Thanks ;-)

Barber Electronics Linden equalizer-it's basically a clone of the Ampeg bass amp tone circuit. That said, and not trying to be a contrarian, I get compliments all the time on how warm my AI Clarus SL sounds with bass guitar.

An overdrive pedal, but SolidGoldFX Beta is also warm as all get out with the gain dialed to 0.

You should try the TC Spark Boost as well!
