I just put an ART Tube MP under my board. Upgraded the crappy stock Chinese tube to a nice Russian 12AX7. You can get some real nice big fat warmth from this thing for like $60!!! And it has high pass filter too, perfect!

TC Electronic Spark is cheap enough to try out and find out if you like it. It might give you want you want.
+1! Cheap and killer! I put an RCA 12ax7 in and wowzers! Not a pedal, just a preamp. Highly recommended with a tube upgrade for sure.

I already have a 3Leaf Enabler pedal preamp/EQ and D that does exactly what I need it to. Adding the ART Tube provides that nice bonus of tube warmth feeding right into the EQ points of the Enabler. Mine is totally hidden away under the board, with only the knobs and gain lights visible.

An EBS Valvedrive dues it in spades. IMO. That and a good compressor will get you there.
Not into a combo but I've used with a few different solid state heads and it sounds great like that.

If your going down the compression road for this then you must consider the Durham Sex Drive. Designed for guitar but works great on bass.

I have the Nano Hot Tubes, and I keep plugging it in to see if it's really that good at the "instant tube warmth" thing, because it seems too good to be true.
It really works! It won't give you anywhere near the versatility of a boutique pedal, but it's one of those pedals that just has that "something." My favorite setting: Volume at unity gain; Tone from 11:00 to 2:00; Overdrive at minimum; Tone switch On. And the best part is that I didn't even buy it for that purpose. It just works!

I should also have mentioned the Digitech Hardwire CM2 Tube Overdrive, great clean to quite dirty with bass and treble controls plus a switchable vintage to modern mode.
Joyo offers several pedals that get a great tube amp sound, I really like the California Sound. It can easily cop clean to old school warm, the Seventies grungy bass tones and the warm creamy punch of the venerable Mesa Boogie Bass 400. Sounds great on skinny strings as well.
