Looking for something a little unique.

I really dig a couple of those Tune models, especially the TWX. I am not 100% sure if I want to go with a 4 or 5 string bass yet. Guess that will have to be another thing I look into. I really would like to have a 5-string but I don't know that I can't play what I need to play with 4 strings. Since the music will be original and written by me, so I can always make adjustments to tuning and such if need be. I just like having that low B string. I also have a thing for 2/3 headstocks on 5-stringers.

Sam Ash used to be a Tune distributor, so occasionally I'll see a used one there. I did actually buy mine on Ebay as you mentioned. I never heard it before, and only read some positive online reviews. Its exotic shape is what really drew me to it. They pop up here on TB sometimes - a recent 6 string for sale back in August sold within 4 weeks. You might want to explore the Tune Club here on TB...

Thanks, that should help if I decide to get one. they look really interesting. i'm also kind of glad I am just now getting back into music as I ouldn't have taken this much time to research so many unique looking and great sounding instruments. Not going to lie though, if I have the opportunity to grab a Triumph Lite, I will not pass it up. =p

I have seen that bass a few times before. I love its shape. I will hopefully be leaving soon so I can check out a Rick or 2 and a few other things to get the process moving. Will report back with my findings later.

Bass San Diego has Dingwalls in stock. I really am just several thousand dollars of disposable income away from buying one from there.

So after taking some time to think and work out some stuff I have got it down to two real choices. A Rickenbacker 4003 or an Ovation Magnum I. I honestly love both of these instruments. I had the chance to play a rick at the store a week or so ago and it was amazing. I love the look, sound and feel of it. I am hoping I can get my hands on a Magnum sometime otherwise I will have to base my decision on sound and looms alone along with whatever information people can give about its feel from experience.

Opinions on these two wondrous instruments? This is definitely gonna be a tough choice. Let the games begin.

I did want to add one thing, this may seem out of place, but I have also been considering the Eastwood Map Bass. I don't know what kinds of tones I can really get from it in terms of versatility but the look alone intrigues and interests me. If anyone has used one or heard one play multiple styles of music, please do share.

Taking a closer look at the BTB675, I really like its look. As for the Bongo, it looks straight sexy in Stealth Black. Gotta add a couple more basses to my list of ones to check out and consider. Thanks for the suggestions. Hoping I can get out again today and go look at a few more basses.

So, was really hoping to get my hands on an Ovation Magnum I but looks like I won't have the money to get the one I was looking into on the bay. Really looking to save some money right now so any suggestions in the range of sub $1000, closet to probably sub $800 would be great. Some of the body shapes I have fallen in love with are the Rickenbacker 4003, Ovation Magnum I, Ibanez BTB series basses, and the Eastwood Map bass. Some of these I can afford, but I think I am still really looking for the one bass that just wows me. Not to say these aren't all great, but for my price range right now, it is becoming tougher and tpugher to find something I love and can afford.

Any other suggestions that have yet to be mentioned already? Or something i may have missed?

Curious if there are any other basses with big metal pickups or metal pickup covers like the Ovation Magnum and Rick 4003? I love the look of a bass with a big piece of metal on it. Looks very attractive to me. Are there many others besides the two named?

Really considering an Ampeg or Ampeg-like bass. Looking deeply into either an Eastwood EEB/EUB-1, Stambaugh Ampeg AEB-1 or just saving for an Ampeg AEB. Not sure if the higher price tag really means all that much in terms of how I will use it so I figured I'd run the idea through you guys before I made any kind if decision.

Again, I will be playing Technical death metal and prof metal mostly. So I need something that can keep up in those departments.

Opinions or advice?
