Looking for the FATTEST sounding jazz pickups

I have just found a very good deal in a Sadowsky preamp DI, and I think I'm going to give it a try at first.

After looking at your advices, I thought very badly about trying any different beast like a MM Stingray or a G&L ASAT, but these where a couple of very risky (and expensive) operations, so, I think I can give the sadowsky pre a try, and, if it fails... maybe I'll see you back in the "For sale" forum

Hi everybody!

I own both a Precision and a Jazz bass.
With the Precision I can achieve a fat, ballsy, thick tone that sits great in the mix, but I experience a lack of definition I don’t feel confortable with.
In the other side I love the playability of my Geddy Lee Jazz, with tons of definition, and a great, barky, growly and angry tone, but it sounds thinner in the bass side…
I’m looking for FAT, THICK, but still GROWLY and WELL DEFINED sound

I removed the badassII and walla! the low end was there! Never looked back!

They're actually the same pickup. Roger has stated he sources Antiquity II's from Seymour Duncan but just without the aged look treatment.

I thought he used DiMarzio's.

I like the Nordy hum cancelling J pups. Maybe its the pre amp, but I can get a P sound out of my J with the Nordy's.

I just ordered a set of DiMarzio J's for the Fender Deluxe. I'm probably going to get an Audere pre-amp (but I can't decide which configuration).

Standard Fender bridge. The badassII kills the lows on the Geddy bass. When i got my GL jazz I just wanted a maple necked alder bodied jazz, the BadassII brightened up the bass and gave it more sustain (something I didn't want). Before anyone wanting more lowend on the GL bass changes pups I would say try a regular bridge. Those Fender original pups ain't no slow leak!
