The retro style is still the same software version, just a whole bunch of CSS styling to make it "look" a little like old vbulletin. So it will never be exactly the same as old talkbass.

I changed my browsing style to TalkBass Retro and it looks a bit more like the old version.

I love that you jump straight to the first unread post when you open a thread, makes it a lot easier to keep track. Like the retro theme too. And we all get avatars!

But where the heck are you guys finding the emoticons? I don't see 'em?

I wish we could see the location of someone like before, though. Especially for the classifieds where it's most helpful.

There are no online indicators - this is something we can work on. For now, just click on a user's avatar and look at the bottom of the popup card where it says "someuser was last seen:"

Just go to "preferences" in Your profile and select the talkbass retro theme, and you'll see locations under everyones avatars.

I'm going to fix the app, but I'm also going to really push for people to use mobile browsers. Tapatalk (and therefore the "TB App" doesn't have all the custom functionality that we've worked hard to put in here (like custom classifieds fields, media and events sections). Give it a try folks! The whole site design changes when you're on a mobile browser

I feel as though i only want it because I had grown accustomed to having it before. It is not really necessary as far as I can see, but I for one would like it in the new version.

Also, if the locations of people could be in their posts in the regular skin, not just the retro skin, that'd be cool too

No kidding!! Took 6 months to get every last piece of data migrated over without bugs. I've been up for 24 hours, going to take a break! Check back later!

Just like anything else, it will take some getting used to. I think I likey so far.

I still wish there was a barfing smiley.

Still not seeing it... Only options i have are "reply to thread", "upload a file" and "preview"?

Yeek... WAY too cluttered, everything is WAY too large, WAY too bright... reminds me of one of those 1990s webpages full of Flash and animated GIFs.

You've basically made things "pretty" while obscuring and making more difficult to read/find the content. Bad aesthetics over utility.
