every day when I lay down, i give thanks for another day. Every morning when i wake up, i give thanks for another chance. God takes care of everything else.

You cam make more than one choice I thr poll. This poll needs multiple choice options. My depression involves a handful of choices listed, and some others that aren't.
Sorry to hear about your health issues.I, too, am having issues with depression. I have a lot going well in my life, but I also have some issues. I am truly thankful for my friends and family, and all I do have. I am going though a lot of pain and I am dealing with a facial paralysis that leaves me functionally blind. I am totally dependent on others to get me places, do grocery shopping, etc. My wife is trying to take care of everything, and I am having trouble helping.
I know that my life could be worse and that many others are worse off than I am. I know that I have support from those that love me. I know that I am blessed in may ways. But that does not stop the hopeless feeling, the feeling of being nothing but a burden.
Unfortunately, I end up taking it out on my wife and daughter, which makes me feel worse. I wish I had some words of wisdom for you Slobake, but all I can offer is take one day at a time. I'm trying to. I do enjoy your posts.

Thanks everyone for your concern and suggestions. I am ok, really. Life goes on and we do our best to make the most of it...
I don't want to be the spokesperson I just want things to get better here. That was a week ago and nothing has changed.Drugs used to really do the trick for me. Lots and lots of drugs. Now that I'm a square, maaaaan, I just kind of shrug it off. I don't know a better way to describe it. I get depressed and I go on about my business. Try to laugh at it. All things must pass.

I can't really think of an intelligent response to this except wow. Sorry to hear this.Sat morning I went to the memorial service for my friends - just turned - 25 yr old son.
My friend has been my dentist for close to 25 yrs, played in my band together for 2 yrs and someone I have jammed with for 15+ yrs.
His son was to graduate college next week. As best I can determine (since no-one was talking), he had been depressed and was [apparently] on anti-depressants, then quit taking them. He appears to have driven some 120 miles to his ex-girlfriend's house, put a gun to his head on her doorstep and pulled the trigger.
The boys mother is a psychologist and may have prescribed him the anti-depressants herself.. idk for sure..
.. so tragic.![]()
Thanks.. that was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. EXTREMELY EMOTIONAL...I can't really think of an intelligent response to this except wow. Sorry to hear this.
Lately things have been bad in my marriage, with my band and at my job. These are a huge part of my life.
My marriage situation is already better and we used a pretty big bump in the road to grow together. We are seeking counsel and prayer for that.
My band situation seems to have taken care of itself, we have a new band leader from Africa. He is a great guy and an amazing musician.
Walked into my job this morning after being away all weekend and it was like walking into a morgue. The feeling of depression and despair hung over my office like month of grey skies. That was an Ah HA! moment. I can choose not to let it get to me.
I have been the one to speak out. When the untouchable ones from the top floor came by with their cheerful smiles and asked how I was doing I told them the truth. Not a rant but specifically what is going on. I also had "rounding" sessions where they asked me how it was going, I told them the truth too. Most people I work with are too scared to speak up but I am not. I understand how they feel , there have been a log of lay-offs here including our boss.
Had a one on one with my new boss and was afraid I was going to get fired. Instead she told me I am the "spokesperson" for the department.I don't want to be the spokesperson I just want things to get better here. That was a week ago and nothing has changed.
These are first world problems and I have read some of the posts here about people going through things that my piddley issues don't even compare to. My peace of mind is more about my attitude than my circumstances. Awareness of what is going on around me and how it might be influencing me helps.
