Looking to replace a 1968 Bassman Cabinet with something lighter

Hey All, I have a 1968 Fender Bassman Amp and Cabinet (it has 2 12's in the cabinet but it's 4 feet tall - the size that would hold two 15 inch speakers). I have started playing in a band again after a long hiatus - we're playing small clubs so the power of the Bassman is fine for the rooms and I love the sound of the two twelves for my bass.

We are never going to play larger places without the bass going through the board so power wise it is good.

The problem is, I'm not getting any younger and carting around the big cabinet to shows is no fun. I was wondering if people can recommend a smaller cabinet. I have not bought an amp or cabinet in 20 years so I am pretty clueless. Looking to spend in the $500-$1000 range for the cabinet.

I play a combination of punk stuff, grunge and a little bit of older stuff but I tend to like a pretty punchy sound that I get now.

The old OT's were pretty stout and shouldn't be a problem. Even better price is http://www.avatarspeakers.com/b212.htm available in 4 or 8 ohm, NEO or ceramic magnet. Many people like them, I have never tried one (on line, direct from factory sales only).

So I ended up getting the Avatar B212 with the Neo speakers. Used it at practice last night and it sounds great! I don't have much use for the tweeter in it yet, that may change (I turned it off for now) but the 2 12" speakers sound really great. Same punch as my old Fender cabinet but with more low end.
