Looks like we need another build thread!

Wow, that seems like it was quick getting to Ireland. Of course, I've had my head so far up my own posterior for the past couple weeks, I might just not have noticed the time going by...

As you might imagine... buying a commercial building is NOT a simple process!! I'm so sick of tax forms, financial statements, and construction estimates. It was fun for a few days, but now I'm like "just give me the f'ing keys already!!!" :rollno::D

Don't worry brother, there's a bed in there for a nap and a crap when it's over.;)

:D

It was incredibly quick, truly! 6 days after it arrived to you(5 working days), that's just unreal, usually, I expect 10 working days, or longer. Cheers!

Double points because it's St. Paddys tomorrow, and not only do I have a green bass for the day(:D), but that usually solws everything down here!

Yeah, I'd be afriad of the sheer amount of forms, and loops, statements and stuff youd have to jump through, brain melting I'd imagine.

Maybe their new slogan should be along the lines of..

"Come and visit us, rock out until you knock out, and have a kip right here!"

Now, where do I start, now that I've had a propper dig in on it(taking a breather just now)...

I suppose the best way is to say a huge thank you to Greg & Ryan(and the guys who work with him, of course), for dealing with me and making me such an incredible axe, its come out better than I could have dreamed, cheers! :hyper::hyper:

And another thanks to you Greg, for the shirts, strings, and Lava Cable, that was incredibly generous, and they're fantastic. :)

The bass, it's magnificent, I'm amazed totally. Everything is awesome.

First off, the shade of green, pictures don't do it justice, it's amost like a green Jolly Rodger.... :D Utterly vibrant and eye catching.
The neck, it's a slight bit chunkier than my Roscoes, but that's by no means a bad thing, just a different shade of badass, the satin finish is super slick and fast(I think I need to sand down my Roscoes to match sometime), the fretwork is stellar and the action lowwwwww.
Completly in love with the volute, btw. :D
It's both light, and super well balanced for me too, which is a nice bonus.
The pickup is excellent, pretty warm(espcially for a "bridge only" setup), but has a lot of bite and growl, and between the 3 way switch and East pre, it's very flexible and I'd imagine can be taylored to any situation. It's also very clear sounding, and really balanced, just perfect really.

So there you have it, I'm completly estatic, it looks, feels, plays and sounds just spectacular, couldn't have come out better.:hyper::hyper:

When I opened it, the tuning was very low, below B, and when I was tuning it up, to DGCFBb, I was a bit worried about how stiff the high strings were getting, so I left it at BEADG for now. I don't know what to make of that, but it's been perfect at BEADG anyway.:)

Well, there you have it, my early impressions, time to make more noise!

Bah - I didn't think to even check the tuning when I was playing it... are you thinking it has the wrong strings on it (B through G instead of E-C)? If so, you might want to change strings sooner rather than later... sorry about that!

The good news is the Warwick nut is adjustable, so you can tweak it as necessary with what could possibly be some quite different string guages.

Sorry about that if I did indeed miss it!

I'm not too sure, to be honest, I got out a digital calipers, and they're lighter than I'd use for B-G normally, but heavier than I'd use for D-Bb, or E-C.

IIRC the lowest string was .118, the 2nd was .090, and the highest was .037, the other two I can't really remember.

Still, it's all gravy, works fantastic in this tuning, and I can try out a highter tuning later on. Cheers!

And I can really see that Warwick nut being useful, delighted you were able to swing that for me too. :)

Enjoy the honeymoon Bill. Glad she arrived before the first Guinness was poured! I will be sure to raise a pint to you and your new emerald beauty tomorrow. The green body looks similar to this from the pics:

Greg: per usual, great job ; customer service gets an A+

I purchased a commercial building in 2001 (note- don't try to get any legal things done in August, that's the month most attorneys go on vacation). I know what red tape is; that and all the documents you need to sign. One must be careful signing all those papers not to injure the bass playing hands! :bassist:

Awesome Bill! Glad that it made it to you by St. Patties day!

That is really fast shipping! Maybe that's the story behind the name "Rocket Music". Rockets are definitely faster than brown bread trucks!

It probably helped that I got the name of Bill's town right this time. It's Doon, and I think I sent it to Boon last time. :rollno::D

I almost did it again this time, but I caught myself. I don't usually screw up the same way twice. Unfortunately, there are plenty more ways out there that I haven't yet screwed up... :hmm::D

That's the first thing I said when I popped it out of the case and picked it up, how light it was(I believe "almost weightless" was the term I used), then I strapped it on, and the balance was perfect.

You'll have to keep us up to date if you do go ahead with a version of the nut. I haven't had to adjust it of course, since it was set up sweet already, but it's a real cool piece of kit, and I'd imagine it being very handy for changing set up to match different tunings.
