Loop pedals!!!!!

I have a sneaking suspicion that my wife got me a Ditto for my birthday, but I have to wait until Saturday to know for sure. Whether she did or didn't, I'm have a hankering for both the Boomerang and the Line 6 DL4.

The old Boomerang was amazing. If u can get ur hands on one, get it!

I use the Ditto. It's always last on my pedalboard, I make quiet ambient loops on the fly behind a lot of my bands songs, adds some "air" to the sound

And it's fun to pretend to be a solo bass artist when practicing lol it doesn't always sound like something, but the experimenting makes u better!

I have the Akai Headrush E2, which has other features (tape echo, delay), and I've had fun accompanying myself with it. But I just took it off my pedal board because I couldn't think of a live application for the looper, aside from a solo act to build layers, or noise/ambient (and I'm likely not using those terms correctly).
How else do you guys use the loop in a band setting? Any particular songs where it's a must-have for bassists?

what pedals are the best on the market atm?

Depends on how you define "best"

The tc Ditto is most certainly the best value in a looper...and it's audio quality is damn near as good as anything on the market.

But if you step up to something like a Strymon Timeline or a Pigtronix Infinity or a Looperlative LP2 you get way more comprehensive looping capabilities, which might be "best" (or "better" at least) for your particular application.

I was back and forth about Ditto or Boss RC3

love the Ditto cause its simplicity, love the RC3 for the feature(drum sampling. midi, etc)

I took a Ditto home to play with this weekend. We'll see. The features of the RC3 - like drums - is appealing, but I'm gonna try the KISS method first. I don't see myself doing solo looping bass gigs anytime soon. It's mostly to practice with, solo over groves, stuff like that. I hope I get some free time to give it a whirl this weekend.

Just picked up the ditto a week ago for use with my acoustic cover duo. I'm using it to add drum beats (a muted E string through a Boss OC2 for the kick drum sounds pretty sweet ;)) and also to keep basslines going so I can solo on top.

It's a great value, dead simple to use. However, I'm already running into situations where I'd like to be able to switch between multiple loops. So I might take it back to GC and save my coins for a more feature laden unit.

For practicing, having fun, and laying down simple loops live, I don't think it can be beat for the price, quality, and form factor.
