loop station with midi

all my pedals are connected to a rocktron patchmate and i control them all with a rocktron midi mate. i do not like pedals in the floor so i went through the midi path.

i also have a boss dr 880 drum machine connected to the patchmate and i would like to be able to do some loops of my own.

i really like the small boss rc 2 and rc3 pedals but these do not have midi capabilities. i would like to turn the record on and off on the loop station using my main and only floor board, the rocktron midi mate.

what are my options? i do not want anything too fancy, i just want to start a drum pattern in the dr880, record a bass line with the looper and improvise over that until i am bored lol.

i already read about some cool loopers but they are very expensive and do a lot more than i need. rc 50, 2880 or looperlative are very nice but i really am looking into rc2 or 3 pedals with midi options.

so, is there a pedal out there with midi capabilities simple enough for my needs?

edit: just discovered the looperlative lp2, it seems the one i want... not available yet

I've look into it since i play with a guy doing reason on a computer...

The only option I'm aware is the line 6 m9/m13... it has a slave midi clock and a 28 secs looper... BUt i dont have any personal experience...

You might be able to jerry rig something running midi to USB conversion on the RC-3 but I think the USB is just for file transfer instead of any functionality.

An option Steve Lawson (IMHO King of the Loopers) said, when working with drums and such it is often easier to run those into the looper and loop the lot together this might be any easier way to work with something like a Jamman?

the akai is overkill, too big and from the looks, too complex for what i need.. i want to put the looper in a sliding tray inside my rack so i really want this looper to be a pedal size unit.. there are some cool units out there that do just what i want but none has the midi features..

what about the looperlative lp2? when will it come out? from the vague description it seems to be just what i want..

the jamman is pretty cool but i believe it does not have midi :(

what about a boomrang III?

LP2 will be in the same price bracket as the RC-50 or M13/M9 it will be nice when/if it comes out.

No the Jamman doesn't have midi, but I was offering up a potentially different option for what you want to do.

I don't think the Boomerang Midi is for anything other than updating it but I could be wrong and I think it sits in the same price bracket as the RC-50 or M13

I hope this doesn't sound difficult but the short answer is No there is nothing that does what you want for the price point.

Are there ways around it above your price point Yes, are there ways around it in or below your price point by sacrificing it sitting on a shelf in a midi'd up rack Yes.
