Lost in Austin

Good god! If you are anywhere but the music scene, you are w/o a clue.

Debauchery? What are you talking about? You promised to show your son that but now don't know where to go? It's a Saturday night in a progressive city. Sheesus.
The most debaucher-ous spots aren't often advertised as such, so if ya don't know the terrain or have a guide in a city that size, you could easily end up somewhere just ho-hum. I envision it as Seattle's dryer cousin, & i hope to eventually look for trouble there in the not too distant future.

I'd also ask here
We do have some trouble makers :D

Dang it, if I’d have seen this earlier I could have invited you out to San Jac Saloon (played a one-off gig there with some friends tonight).

You’d have to specify what you’re looking to get into for any real recommendations. This is still Texas, so the late night bars and such don’t really exist in the same way that they do in other cities.

I didn't see this until now. You should have gone to the Hand Built Motorcycle Show and held dollar bills over the rail of the Wall of Death to see if the rider could grab it.

Get a slice of pizza from Roppolo's.
Esther's Follies is usually a good time, but that would have been useful to you an hour ago.
Rock out to hellbilly music while playing pool and eating a hamburger the size of your head at Casino El Camino.

So what you're saying is, I should go to Austin when I'm on vacation in a couple of weeks?

Sorry Dave i dont look at TB on the weekend :(
I was at birthday dinner Saturday night and at band practice Friday night.
To be honest I am kind of old and boring now and dont go downtown too much. On 6th you can see some good live music but mostly before 10 PM after that it all flips to DJ's. Maggie Mae's or Blind pig usually have some good bands all night without cover. Friend's has blues by original bands all night and hot bartenders. Dirty dog (where we play June 2) is usually harder rock. Of course you can meander to East 6th(hipster land) to Hotel Vegas or to Rainey Street to the Blackheart. 4th St has Cedar Street Courtyard for all you can get cougars ;)
Sorry I wasnt there for ya man! You still got my number?
Attached pics of the glory days when i used to go out :(

It it sucked big time. I walked down to 6th street, but the crowds and noise made me claustrophobic. I didn't go in anywhere because I would have had to stand in line and pay a cover. Just wasn't in the mood. So I went back to my crappy overpriced hotel and watched TV.

Sorry it didn't work out.
On the plus side, think of all the interesting diseases you avoided!

Doh! I should have thought to call you. Well, you were busy anyway. You can't possibly be older nor more boring than I. Yes, I have your number. Catch you next time. Might be a while, we're booked pretty solid through May.
